This is what led me to look for ways to make money outside of my 9 – 5 job. I wanted to save up for a property so I sold my unwanted clothes online and eventually started a bookkeeping business. This has helped me reach my savings goal faster and afford to go on amazing holidays.

If you are a skilled crafter consider monetising your skills by making and selling your own products. I know for some people crafting is a hobby but it can also be a fun way to make money

Whether it’s jewellery, artwork, candles, coasters or home decor, there is a huge market for unique handmade goods. 

You can sell your handmade creations on platforms like Etsy, Shopify, your own website, or at local craft fairs and markets. 

2. Take On Driving Jobs

Earning potential: $60 – $120 per day.

Do you have a reliable car and a valid driving licence? If yes, you can make some extra cash by driving for companies like Uber or Lyft or delivering food through platforms like Uber Eats or Doordash. Another option is to deliver packages for Amazon.

This is a flexible way to make money outside of your 9 -5 job. Just ensure that you factor in car maintenance and fuel costs.

Starting a blog is one of the most lucrative ways to make money online. It gives you the freedom to work from anywhere, have a flexible schedule and be your own boss. It also doesn’t cost a lot to get started and there is no limit to your earning potential. 

To get started choose a niche you are passionate and knowledgeable about. This is important because you will be writing about it a lot. Then set up your blog and start creating valuable content that is helpful to the reader. 

I will keep it real with you blogging does take a lot of work in the beginning, but eventually you will start to make money so all the hard work will be worth it. 

Once you start to gain traffic you can monetise your blog with display ads, affiliate marketing, and sponsored posts. You can also scale and make more money by selling digital products, and courses and offering your services.

4. Become a Content Creator

The content creator market is booming and is not going to stop anytime soon. Content creators are the new online marketers. Businesses and brands love to collaborate with them to promote their products. If you are creative and not shy to be in front of a camera why not become a content creator? You can share your interests and passions, build a community of like-minded people and make money. 

For example, if you love drawing you can create content about how you perfected your craft and show other people how to draw. This is a fun way to make money while doing something you are passionate about. 

Brainstorm some ideas and choose a topic. Once you have decided on your niche you need to choose a platform and create content consistently. YouTube, TikTok and Instagram all have opportunities for creators to make money so you can go with the platform you enjoy the most.

Building an audience is key to making money but you don’t just want followers you want them to be engaged or you won’t make money. Once you have built a loyal audience you can earn money through ad revenue, brand partnerships, sponsored content and affiliate marketing.

Selling eBooks is a great way to make money online and it is also passive income. If you have expertise in a particular subject you can create an eBook and sell it online.

This is how I was able to first start making money online. I decluttered my wardrobe and sold all my unwanted clothes on eBay. 

You can do the same. Declutter your home and make a pile of any unwanted clothes, shoes, electronics and anything else that is still in good condition. 

Once you have your pile of items you need to take pictures (ensure they are clear and good quality) then write a detailed description and list them on your chosen platform. 

Platforms like eBay, Vinted and Facebook marketplace are good options. I prefer selling on eBay because you can list your items as an auction and sell them within a week. 

11. Become a Bookkeeper

If you enjoy working with numbers and have some knowledge about accounting or bookkeeping you can become a virtual bookkeeper. This is a good way to make $100 or more a day long-term.

If you don’t have any previous experience you can learn the basic skills by watching free YouTube videos and other resources. Or you can take an online course if you can afford to. 

As a bookkeeper, you will be expected to record income and expense transactions, reconcile bank statements and produce monthly reports. These are the basic tasks but they may vary depending on your client’s needs. 

This is how I was able to start making money consistently outside of my 9 – 5 job. I currently work as a Finance Analyst so I used my skills to offer bookkeeping services to small businesses. This has allowed me to make money on the side and is one of the best things I have done.

This is how affiliate marketing works. Let’s say I am writing a blog post about my favourite personal finance books and I include a link to purchase each book on Amazon. When a reader clicks the link to make a purchase I will earn a commission from Amazon for helping to make the sale. Essentially, you make money by recommending products or services. 

You will need to have an audience to make money with affiliate marketing because without an audience you can’t make sales. So if you have a blog or you use a social media platform you can build it up and implement affiliate marketing.

13. Online Tutoring

Earning potential: $80 – $120 per day.

Tutoring is a great way to make money online if you excel in a particular subject or skill. You can teach English, Maths or art to kids who need extra assistance or want to hone their skills.

Since the pandemic online tutoring has become a lot more popular and easily accessible. Also, offering your services online will give you access to a larger market. 

The lead-up to exams is when tutoring is in high demand so you can take advantage and offer extra hours during this time to increase your income.

You can find work by offering your services on platforms like MyTutor or Tutorful or you can promote your services by word of mouth.

Freelancing is a flexible way to make money as a beginner. You can leverage your skills to work with clients across various industries. Businesses and entrepreneurs are always looking for freelancers to help them out with tasks or projects so there are plenty of opportunities. 

Whether you’re a graphic designer, writer, web developer or consultant you can find a gig online and start making money pretty quickly. 

Websites like Fiverr, Upwork and Flexjobs are good places to find freelance work. They are pretty saturated so to stand out you can ask your clients to leave reviews because it will boost your profile. 

15. Rent Out Your Spare Room

Renting out your extra space is an easy way to make money fast and is another way to make passive income. If you have a spare room you can rent it out on Airbnb and make some extra money. 

If you live in a central location close to public transport links your room will be in high demand so you can easily make $100 a day or more. The amount of money you can make is highly dependent on your location so do keep that in mind.

If you have great attention to detail and are good at spotting spelling mistakes and grammatical errors being a proofreader may be the perfect option for you.

As a proofreader, you may be required to proofread articles, books, research papers, marketing emails, transcripts or more. Getting started is really easy, all you need is a laptop or tablet and internet access. That’s it!

As a copywriter, you can expect to write sales copy, website content, job adverts, email campaigns and more. Businesses rely on this content to attract customers and sell their products and services so they will pay top dollar for a good copywriter. 

You can look for jobs on platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr, and Pro Blogger. Or you can pitch to clients directly or work with an agency that will find work for you. 

18. Be a Social Media Manager

Earning potential: $100 – $400 per day.

As I mentioned earlier social media has taken over and content creation has become a lucrative business. Businesses and influencers need help to manage their social media presence so this has created a need for social media managers.

Social media managers provide help with creating content, scheduling posts, engaging with followers and analysing performance metrics to see what is or isn’t working. You can use your experience as a social media user to help create engaging content. 

You can find work by pitching to clients you want to work with directly. Send them an email and include ideas to help them grow their platform. If you have a social media account that you have grown you can include your analytics as proof of your abilities.

19. Invest In The Stock Market

Earning potential: $10 – $200 per day.

If you have some money sitting in your savings account you can invest it in the stock market and make money. This is a smart way to make your money work for you, make passive income and build wealth. To be clear I am not talking about trading I think that is risky and we want to make money not lose it. My approach is to invest in index funds.

20. Sell Online Courses

Earning potential: $100 – $5,000 per day.

Online courses are one of the most lucrative ways to make money online. People are always looking for ways to learn new things and online courses make it easily accessible.

There is no limit to what you can create an online course about. Whether it’s teaching Excel skills, drawing, knitting, investing, business or fitness you can help people learn and make money. 

This option does require some work to get started but it will be worth it because there is no limit to your earning potential. To start you need to decide which subject you want to teach. Then write your outline and create engaging videos and any materials to go with it.

If you already have an audience it will be easier to sell your course, but if you don’t you can sell your course on platforms like Skillshare or Udemy which already have a large audience. 

21. Resell Products On Amazon

Earning potential: $100 – $500 per day.

Amazon is a one-stop shop for everything so it is no surprise that people can make $100 or more a day by reselling products on Amazon

You can source products from wholesalers, liquidation sales or even clearance sections and resell them on Amazon for a profit through their FBA model (Fulfillment By Amazon). 

This is another option that does require a little more work but the time you put in will pay off tenfold.
