Making time for mindfulness will not only upgrade your life, it will also improve the quality of your life. Our lives are so busy we’re constantly on the go and now due to the rise in social media, we’re glued to our screens. We never really have time to be still and pay attention to our thoughts and feelings.
Your thoughts are powerful, they control your actions so it’s important to take time to check in with yourself. This can lead to you understanding yourself better, making changes to improve your life and helping you enjoy life more.
You can practice mindfulness by doing breathing exercises for 5 – 10 minutes in the morning or before bed.
Meditation is also a great mindfulness practice. It can help you gain awareness of your thoughts and reduce stress. If you are just getting started you can follow a guided meditation on YouTube or you can use an app like Calm.
2. Learn New Skills
Learning a new skill is a great way to upgrade your life and invest in yourself. It’s also a great way to boost your confidence and it can open you up to new career opportunities.
Your mind is your greatest asset so it is worth making time and effort to learn new skills. Knowledge is power it is something no one can take away from you. While Money and material things won’t last forever, the skills and knowledge you acquire will always stay with you.
Choose a skill that you think would be valuable to you or you can choose a skill to learn for fun. For example, I’ve always wanted to draw so I took some classes to learn how to draw. The skill you choose doesn’t have to make you money the point is to stimulate your mind.

This is one of my favourite ways to make time for self-care. I journal every morning and it helps me start my day on a positive note. If I have a lot on my mind I will brain dump but if I am short on time I will fill in my 6-minute diary.
4. Work On Your Health & Fitness
Health is wealth you’ve probably heard this a million times but it’s true. If you aren’t healthy you won’t be able to fully enjoy your life. It’s easy to take your health for granted but it can catch up to you. And if it does how are you going to enjoy the benefits of upgrading your life?
I know getting started can feel overwhelming, but you can keep it simple. You can stick to the basics and focus on moving your body and eating healthy.
Eat Healthy
Focus on eating healthy balanced meals. In each meal try to incorporate protein, carbs, fats and vegetables. This will help you feel full and satisfied and stop you from wanting to reach for unhealthy snacks. Also, try to cut back on eating takeaways.
Make time one day a week to create a menu and go grocery shopping. Once you have all your ingredients you can meal prep for the week. This will save you time and make eating healthy easier.

Failing to plan is planning to fail and I know you don’t want to fail, so start planning your day.
Planning your day will save you time and stop you from stressing about which tasks you need to complete each day. It will also give you direction and significantly increase your productivity.
The key to planning an effective day is identifying your important tasks and completing them first. You can plan your day by using a planner like this one or you can use Notion. I used to use a planner but I switched to using Notion last year and I love it.
Implement time blocks throughout your day for any tasks that require you to focus and add your appointments to your Google calendar. This will help you stay organised and avoid missing anything important.

6. Work Towards a Goal
Setting and working towards a goal is a powerful way to achieve personal growth and fulfilment. It will also challenge you and push you out of your comfort zone.

Upgrading your life is amazing for your growth journey, but if you’ve got no one to share the highs and lows with it can feel isolating.
Make an effort to stay in touch with friends and family. You can do this by arranging a time to catch up whether it’s over dinner, on the phone or through messages.
If you’re in a relationship and have kids make time at least once a month to have a date night. It doesn’t have to be fancy you can cook dinner together and simply talk.
I know everyone is busy but these small gestures will help you maintain your relationships and let your loved ones know how much they mean to you.

Wake up at least one hour before you need to start your day. This will allow you to start your day slow and pour into yourself before dealing with everything else that comes your way.
During your morning routine, you can read, exercise and have a healthy breakfast.

I’m all for being frugal but sometimes investing in quality items can save you money and improve your overall quality of life.
When you purchase quality items they tend to last longer and reduce the need for frequent replacements. They also perform better and are more reliable.
Now, I’m not encouraging you to only buy expensive things and spend more than you need to. But instead of going for the cheaper option focus on buying quality items that bring you value
For example, if you need a new iPhone charger and you’re trying to choose between one that costs $10 on Amazon or a $20 one from Apple, go with Apple. It will work better and last longer.
Buying quality items is super important when it comes to buying clothes. The cheaper brands have low prices, but the clothes don’t last long. If you spend a little more and purchase quality clothes you will look better in them and can keep them for years.
When you look good you feel good and upgrading your life is all about feeling your best.
12. Declutter Your Life
We are all guilty of holding onto things that we don’t need. Life gets busy and it is hard to stay on top of everything. When you have too much going on it can lead to stress and make it hard to focus.
