The goals you set should stretch you and contribute to your growth. If you set a goal, make a plan and stay disciplined and consistent you will get there and become a better version of yourself.
Setting personal goals and working towards them has helped me to become more confident, pursue my dreams and become a better well-rounded person.
This post is all about personal goals for a woman.
The Best Personal Goals For a Woman
1. Start Investing
Investing your money is important for the health of your finances. With the cost of living and inflation continuing to rise, putting your money in places to grow is crucial.
If you invest in the stock market your money can grow in value when the stock price increases and you can also make money through interest and dividends. Growing your money can help to protect you from inflation and it can also help you to plan for retirement.
To get the best return you should invest consistently. Think of it as contributing to your future, even if it is a small amount. Every time you get paid you should invest in the stock market. I recommend setting this up on autopilot to make it easier.
Most people do not invest due to fear or a lack of knowledge. I recommend educating yourself on investing as much as possible. I have a post that explains everything you need to know in a simple way. You can read it here
2. Travel Alone
Solo travel is a great personal goal for a woman. It is a way to see and experience the world and immerse yourself in different cultures.
When you travel you meet new people, learn how other people live and open your mind to seeing new perspectives. Doing simple things like having conversations with locals, exploring, and trying new dishes are new experiences which can be rewarding.
Travelling alone can help you to grow into a more confident woman as you will increase your independence. It can also help you to relax, unwind, slow down and be in the moment which can have many positive effects on your mental health.
3. Set a Savings Goal
Having a savings goal is a great short-term goal for a woman, saving is important and every woman should prioritise it. Setting yourself a savings goal and sticking with it will build self-trust and help you reach your financial goals.
For example, you could set a goal to save $10k in a year, save up for a new car, or save for a property deposit. When you set big goals for yourself and work towards them, on the journey to get there you will grow.
Once you have decided on what you want to save up for you need to create a budget, this will allow you to plan how to reach your goals. Once you have done this you need to have the discipline to stick to it. When you reach your goal you will be so proud of yourself!
4. Create a Budget & Stick To It
Speaking of money, a smart goal for a woman is to create a budget. Having a budget will allow you to make a plan for your money. This way when you get paid you will know where your money needs to go.
Your budget will include all of your income, bills, essential expenses, and your money goals. For example, if you have debt that you want to pay off or you are saving for a goal you will include the repayments in your budget. This way when you get paid a portion of your money will go towards it automatically.
If you are new to budgeting it can feel overwhelming, but trust me it doesn’t need to be. You can create a simple budget and reach all of your goals. I have a post that will help you get started, you can read it here.
Knowing how to manage your money is very important for the health of your finances and your future. Once I created a budget and stuck to it I was able to get out of debt, build up my savings, and start investing in the stock market.
5. Read More Books
Reading is a great personal goal for a woman. Through reading books, you can learn and develop so much. You can read books about self-improvement, business, health, biographies, etc.
I recommend reading books about things that don’t pertain to you, this will expand your mindset and show you different perspectives. Reading also has a lot of benefits such as improving your focus and concentration, it can also exercise your brain and motivate you.
6. Speak Up
Learning to speak up is a personal goal every woman should have! Speaking your mind as a woman is important as it can build your confidence and increase your influence.
A lot of the time women shy away from speaking their minds in fear of being seen as aggressive, but you shouldn’t let that stop you. Your point of view, your thoughts and your feelings are valid and just as important as everyone else’s!
Speaking up also has benefits such as helping you to communicate better, express your emotions, and maintain healthy relationships with the people closest to you.
7. Build Confidence
A super important goal for a woman is to build confidence. I know this is easier said than done, but building confidence can change your life! When you are confident in yourself and your abilities you will want to go for the things you want in life.
Building confidence will take work but it is something that you can learn. To get started you can set yourself small challenges that will take you out of your comfort zone. All growth begins outside of your comfort zone!
For example, you can challenge yourself to contribute in your next team meeting. It can be something simple like giving your perspective on the agenda. If you keep challenging yourself over time you will become confident.
8. Find a Creative Outlet
Having a creative outlet has so many benefits. It can help to reduce stress, improve your mood, and can be a great way to express yourself. Through creativity, you can discover more about yourself.
Also, being creative is fun, you can be creative by drawing, writing, baking, dancing, or colouring. Some people think that you need to be good at something creative or naturally creative to have a creative outlet, but that isn’t true.
I am not good at drawing, but I do it because I enjoy it and it makes me happy. Having a creative outlet can open your mindset and have many positive benefits for your mental health.
9. Invest In Yourself
Investing in yourself is the best investment you can make! Your mind is your most important asset so you should invest in expanding it.
You can invest in yourself by learning a new skill, taking a course in something you are interested in learning or hiring a coach or mentor. This can be very beneficial in the long run.
For example, if you invest in a coach or mentor they can help you push past your fears and become a better person both professionally and personally.
10. Practice Self-Love
Self-love is the best love, setting a goal to practise this in your life is very valuable. When you love yourself you have a positive outlook on life and are more likely to feel empowered to take risks and come out of your comfort zone.
Loving yourself can increase your self-esteem and your self-worth and make you want to take better care of yourself. Love is patient and kind so you need to be patient with yourself and give yourself grace. Be present and trust in yourself and your abilities.
To practise self-love you can start by prioritising self-care. You can get a massage, take a long relaxing bath, or have a spa day. It can be simple or luxurious, as long as it makes you feel good afterwards it is worth it. Your mind and body will thank you for it.
Another important aspect of self-love is self-talk. The way you speak to yourself is very important. You want to talk to yourself the same way you would talk to your best friend with love and compassion.
11. Build Genuine Relationships
Having genuine relationships is so powerful for women. There is nothing better than talking to your friends about life and sharing different experiences and perspectives. Through these conversations, we learn and grow.
When you have genuine relationships you have a support system. Having support is important as when things get tough they will help to pick you up and encourage you to keep going.
12. Become Disciplined
Discipline is the key to success! To reach your goals and be great you need to have discipline. This means showing up to do the thing even when you don’t want to.
Sometimes we may set goals for ourselves that we really want to achieve, but along the way, it gets hard so we stop. If you practise discipline you will be able to push past this.
To practise being disciplined you can start by setting small goals for yourself. For example, you can set your alarm to wake up a little earlier, read and go for a walk. Once you do this consistently your confidence will grow and you will build trust with yourself. This will show you that you can reach any goal you set for yourself.
Keeping yourself accountable is important when you have goals. To keep yourself accountable you can create a checklist in the Notes app on your phone and once you complete each goal you can check it off. This can be really satisfying and motivate you to keep going.
13. Follow Your Dreams
Following your dreams is a goal every woman should have. As women, we tend to be more calculated and risk-averse which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But it can stop you from following your dreams.
If there is something that you have been dreaming of doing, now is the time to go for it. Whether it is moving to a different area, starting a beauty line or baking and selling cupcakes, do it! No matter what the outcome is you won’t regret it, what you will regret is not trying and wondering what would have happened.
To make your dreams a reality you need to have a plan and set goals. For example, if you wanted to move to a different area you could set a goal to do some research on the area and spend a weekend there to get a feel for the environment.
14. Start Your Own Business or Side Hustle
Starting your own business or side hustle is a great way to take control of your destiny and carve out your own path. At work we set professional goals, so why not set a personal goal to start a business or side hustle?
Working on your own business can give you a sense of pride and if it is something you are passionate about it won’t feel like work. It sounds cliche but I promise it is true. It is also a good way to help others and add value to the world.
Having the courage to bet on yourself by starting your own business is an empowering goal for a woman. This will boost your confidence and give you a sense of accomplishment.
15. Improve Your Health & Fitness
Improving your health and fitness is an important goal for a woman to have. Your health and fitness can affect everything from your energy levels to your bone and muscle strength.
Eating a balanced diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and moving your body can help you look and feel better. It can also help you to boost your mood, sleep better and be more productive.
You can keep it simple by going for walks or doing yoga, or you can sign up for your favourite class at your local gym. Just choose something that you enjoy doing and be consistent.
